The premise for this project was to bring awareness to the Home Energy Score (HES)  to help home owners understand the importance of home energy efficiency. In my approach, I focused on bringing forward the discomforts the user might feel in their own home if it has a low HES score, prompting them to realize that changes might need to be made. Instead of the conventional homeowner, my intended audience for this piece are high schoolers who would go through this website during HomeEc class and bring back what they learned to their parents. I see this as more of a conversation starter to the possible fixes a homeowner would become aware of as they realize the importance of a high HES score. 

The tone of the written content of this piece is playful, but also educational. I wanted to create something that would be fun for the user as they went through the website.  

I decided on an interactive website because I wanted this piece to be engaging and inviting, especially the topic of Home Energy Efficiency is usually dealt with numbers and dry statistics. I wanted the user to have a sense of exploration as they discovered each room in the house had problems that they might be able to relate to. 

As for the "HES in action!" section of the website, I wanted to help the user visualize what their house may look like as their HES score improves. So as the user chooses higher HES scores, the house gradually becomes better renovated.
